Argentina no clasificó al mundial de básquet

El equipo nacional venía de ser subcampeón en el Mundial de China 2019 después de perder la final frente a España.

La Selección argentina de básquetbol perdió por 79 a 75 frente a su par de República Dominicana, en un encuentro que jugaron este domingo en el Polideportivo Islas Malvinas de Mar del Plata, por la Zona E de las Eliminatorias para el Mundial y se quedó afuera de la competencia que se disputará en agosto en Filipinas, Indonesia y Japón.

Los dirigidos por Néstor García tuvieron el dominio durante gran parte del partido, con momentos de brillantez en los primeros cuartos con una ventaja considerable, pero se fueron quedando en el último cuarto y los centroamericanos se adjudicaron el triunfo.

Argentina necesitaba ganar para tener un lugar en el próximo Mundial, pero se quedó sin su chance.

El equipo argentino concluyó el certamen en la cuarta posición de la Zona E, con ocho victorias y cuatro derrotas, justo por detrás de Canadá, República Dominicana y Venezuela, que finalizó con los mismos registros que Argentina, pero lo superó en puntos a favor.

Con una actuación irregular de muchos jugadores de los que se esperaba más, como Facundo Campazzo, Gabriel Deck fue el que más se destacó con 27 puntos (10-13 en dobles, 0-2 en triples, 7-8 en libres), tres rebotes, dos recuperaciones y dos asistencias.

“Es una cagada. No jugamos bien, en el segundo tiempo nos secamos. Hay que darle mérito a Dominicana, que hizo un partidazo. Nos supieron defender bien, nosotros no pudimos sacar ventaja, hicimos un juego muy evidente. Pero bueno, ahora hay que estar más unidos que nunca y seguir trabajando. Prefiero estar con mis hermanos acá, sintiendo esta sensación de mierda, antes que estar en otro lugar”, expresó Campazzo sobre la derrota.
